You asked me to write you a poem,

You told me it needed to rhyme,

You said a poem isn’t really a poem,

If it doesn’t rhyme all of the time.

I try to tell you you’re wrong,

The best poems rarely ever do,

I try to enlighten your ignorance,

But of course no one is right but you.

You asked me to write you a poem,

You thought I’d have something to say,

But I find rhyming rather restrictive,

A little like you in a way.

So here is the poem you asked for,

Of course it is not what you hoped,

But then what were you really expecting?

You forced me to rhyme.
