Tobias A. Weber
One could think Tobias A. Weber has a fable for torture. Not only did he finish three Ironman competitions in his twenties, but he also studied biochemistry. While his hard reality was dominated by the laws of nature, he enjoyed nothing more than immersing himself in complex fantasy stories in all forms: books, movies, computer and video games, and TV series. For him it was a natural choice to write fantasy when he started his first book, The Queen’s Pass, in 2014. At the time he began this fantasy saga, he was living in Sweden, where his research had taken him. Since then, he has moved on to Brazil where he currently lives with his lovely wife.
During the creation of The Queen’s Pass, the discipline and endurance Tobias had gained during his triathlon competitions proved to be very useful, as well as the many impressions he had won during his journeys on six continents. He loves to travel, and not just because each new vacation is a source of inspiration for his stories. He also takes inspiration from human history, one of his favorite subjects in school. Back then, at a school desk in a small town near Frankfurt, he would have never imagined that he would become an author one day. But as he grew older, he hit the idea of writing a book. The idea then finally gelled on the day he typed the first words of The Queen’s Pass on his computer. And, like history, the story began with a big bang.
One of the things Tobias has a soft spot for are boxers (the dog breed). Yet instead of wayward dogs, his stories are dominated by wayward humans. He usually keeps his characters on a very long leash, or turns them loose. And most often, they surprise him with their temper.
Apart from complex characters and plots, Tobias likes to add a little mystery to his stories, as the subtitle of The Queen’s Pass – The Dark Secret already suggests. And when it comes to great discoveries, he unites science and fantasy in his books. Here and there, one does not see the big picture from the beginning. Step by step, however, it will unravel in front of their eyes. But unlike in science, one can just lean back and enjoy the ride while it happens. In the end, this is all what Tobias is aiming for with his writing. For this reason, he devotes any time he can find to write his stories, or translate those he has already written in German.
