Les Haswell

Les Haswell was born in Glasgow and spent his early years in Ayrshire, in South-West Scotland. Having been educated there and served an engineering apprenticeship he embarking on a world tour of Scotland, living in Ayrshire, Perthshire, Morayshire, Aberdeenshire and Stirlingshire, before ending up in Aberdeen.

Working in the offshore oil & gas industry for much of his business life, Les has travelled the world and visit places as culturally diverse as Latin America and USA, West & East Africa, the Middle & Far East.

Les now lives with his wife in Winchester in Hampshire.

What inspired you to start writing?

Always had the urge to write a novel, inspired I suppose by the pleasure I have had in reading the books of others.

Who are some of your favorite authors and books?

Favorite authors would include but not be limited to; Lee Child, Quintin Jardine, Stephen Leather, and David Baldacci.

What would you like to tell readers who have just discovered your books, but haven't read one yet?

I hope that the enjoyment I have had in writing these books is evident when you read them and I would urge you to read and enjoy them too. They're pretty good, honestly!

Who is the favorite character you created, and how did they come into being?

Alan Brodie, he developed as I wrote him. I started with a germ of how I wanted him to be - violent but with a sense of humor - and made it happen.

What are your future plans as a writer?

I plan to continue with Rob MacLaine and Alan Brodie, as I have a few stories developing in my head. I just need to find more time to get them down on the page.
