James Quinn is an author of espionage action thrillers. Having spent 15 years in the secret world of covert surveillance operations, undercover investigations and international security, he turned his hand to writing. He has also been an instructor in personal security and specialist weapon skills to a number of individuals and organisations and he is trained in hand to hand combat and in the use of a variety of weaponry including small edged weapons. Quinn is also a crack pistol shot in CQB (Close Quarter Battle) and he has incorporated many of his experiences into his works of fiction.
These days he is only interested in training himself and those close to him.
His new career as an author came as much as a surprise to him as it did to anyone else, and while he still occasionally takes on the odd investigation/security consulting contract to keep himself busy, much of his time is devoted to producing new books. His first book, A Game for Assassins -a Cold War spy thriller - introduced his main protagonist Jack “Gorilla” Grant to the espionage readers of 2016.
Of the character of “Gorilla” Grant, Quinn has stated that; “Gorilla takes bits of several people that I knew, and continue to know, in the secret world. He is the very antithesis of a James Bond. He’s a working class spy, a rough diamond; part soldier, part copper and part killer. Gorilla has his own set of rules, his own way of doing things. He’s not afraid to get his hands dirty, let’s put it that way.”
The second book in the Gorilla Grant series – SENTINEL FIVE – will be available from Creativia Publishing in 2016. Of Sentinel Five, Quinn has said; “If A Game for Assassins was my token Cold War spy thriller, Sentinel Five is my tale of bloody revenge in Asia.”
James Quinn hopes to entertain readers for the foreseeable future with several more “Gorilla” Grant novels.
He lives in the United Kingdom and travels extensively around the globe.
