Dormaine G

Dormaine G

Author Dormaine G

Biography

Dormaine G has several stories published under the science fiction and fantasy genres, as she likes to explore the realms of the unknown. She excels in making the conventional seem extraordinary and the normal appear dysfunctional. In each of her tales you will find everyday individuals struggling with the task of either saving lives, or trying to prevent themselves from delving into the unknown parts of themselves.

Born on Long Island, New York into a strict family, she was always the child that saw things differently. Being the quirky one in the family, she liked the concept of possibly traveling in space one day, the limitless imagination of science fiction, and the perversities of horror, which never seemed to scare her. She was in awe over the spectacular wonders of the mind and how far one could stretch it. She never believed in living within a box, even till this day.

Suffering from headaches as a child, she learned to appreciate the medical field and the wonders of modern medicine. As an adult she graduated from New York Institute of Technology and received a bachelors in Science of Nursing after receiving her associates in math and science and a certification in Forensic Nursing. Over the years she met numerous people while working in hospitals as a critical care nurse, she voyaged within the United States as a traveler nurse and even met some interesting youths while working at a school that specialized in students with behavioral issues.

Although she has worked in the medical field for over ten years, she has never forgotten her love for the fictitious world. Through the years she has written many a story in the young adult urban fantasy genre, which is still one of her favorites. She was always fascinated with the idea of an everyday youth discovering that they were special, and born to fulfill a higher purpose in their normal existence.

Each one of her main characters in her books will has one thing in common - dysfunction. Dormaine G. discovered her center theme throughout her books during an interview. It was brought to her attention that not only does the character have to deal with an antagonist or challenging tasks, but they themselves have to struggle with inner turmoil. Dysfunction is her key element. A character flaw or trait that drives all her characters to struggle even beyond the ideals of normalcy.

Her first novel, Connor, was published in 2015. It’s an urban fantasy which explores the life of an awkward teen who discovers that she has special abilities and there are other teens in the world just like her. Once they find each other they set off on an adventure, hoping to learn their origin, but unfortunately they realize that being special comes at a price.

The book is a part of a trilogy that will follow the lives of several characters (not all human); how they evolve, their mission, and their place in the world plus a romantic twist. It will be an interplanetary quest that takes place on Earth and an alternate planet, Ether.
She’s also decided to publish a series of historical fiction dark fantasy short stories that takes place in the back swamps of New Orleans. A place where the untouchable roam and anything can happen.

Presently, she is working on a romantic fantasy involving vampires, of which she has taken on the challenge of the typical love story and pushed the boundaries of passionate limits and plowed through obsession. It will be a twisted tale.

Dormaine G has dabbled in a few other genres such as mystery, suspense and romance. She plans on continuing down the line of the fantasy genre with paranormal suspense/romance, more historical fiction short stories and cultural romance.
