Troy Dukart has been a fan of fantasy, adventure and science-fiction his whole life. An alumnus of the University of Minnesota: Twin Cities, he developed a passion for writing and storytelling while studying Asian Languages and Literature with a Japanese focus. He began writing THE VENERATE ORDER in 2012 while living in Osaka, Japan as an English teacher.
Born in Colorado, Troy was raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota and then moved to California a few years after he graduated college. He has been a “California-Dreamer” since he was in a teenager.
The only child of a single mother, Troy developed his own unique view of the world from a young age. He had always wondered what life would have been like with a father and siblings but is forever grateful for the loving and caring family and friends that stood by his side. Being an only child made Troy independent and brave. There is not much Troy won’t try for the first time, except walking on coals.
When he is not playing guitar, performing comedy or producing films, you will catch him writing stories. Troy is an entertainer at heart and enjoys making others happy through his passions. He is a diehard Vikings fan and enjoys watching the NBA. Travel is a passion for Troy and he wishes to visit as many countries as he possibly can. Europe is his fantasy destination.
Troy enjoys the works of Veronica Roth, Dr. Wayne Dyer, Steven King and Stephanie Meyer. Self-Improvement books fill Troy’s shelf, even more than his fiction section. His goal is to read over twenty books a year! Audible is also a big part of Troy’s driving life. It makes a great use of one’s time to listen to a book rather than just listen to music in Troy’s opinion.
Much of his inspirations come from Japanese animes such as DRAGON BALL Z, COWBOY BEBOP, and OUTLAW STAR to name a few. Troy is also a lifelong gamer and credits FINAL FANTASY X for being the greatest influencing force in his creative journey. FINAL FANTASY X is a story that has stayed close to Troy’s heart ever since he first played it back in 2001.
Troy is an award-winning public speaker who holds the titles of Advanced Communicator Bronze and Advanced Leader Bronze in Toastmasters International. He has also been the Vice-President of Public Relations Officer for his local club. Leadership and public speaking have become a vital part of Troy’s growth since he moved to California in 2014. Toastmasters has provided him with the same love and support of his family and friends back home. He cherishes the organization and has made a promise to be a Toastmaster for life.
Troy hopes that his work will connect with fans of science-fiction, fantasy, and adventure stories. He has always loved the Marvel and DC universes and enjoys the creativity from each company. Troy has always believed that dreamers are the saviors of the world. Seeing these movies come to life gives Troy the motivation to push to ink his ideas to paper. He hopes that one day his books will be made for the big screen.
Music has also played a huge part in Troy’s life. His favorite band growing up was Linkin Park. Many of the ideas for his books were formulated listening to them, and he will always be a fan. He even got his first tattoo in honor of the passing of Linkin Park’s lead singer Chester Bennington in the summer of 2017. There isn’t a day that goes by that Troy doesn’t miss Bennington. What he learned was to always cherish the people you have in your life and to always be grateful. Life is too short to not tell each someone how much you love them. Go to your favorite artist’s concerts!
